General Assembly 2019

In September, we held our General Assembly in Bilbao, Spain.

The Assembly was hosted by the Spanish national organization CGDI. Almost 60 attendees from 15 countries met for the General Assembly (GA) and a round table session about Partnerships. Among the attendees there were present the ECIA board, presidents and delegates of the national organizations and members of the countries. We were delighted that the ECIA past president Kees Spanjers accompanied us on that important occasion. The IFI also attended the GA and it was a good moment to continue our cooperation with the International Federation of Interior Architects / Designers.

In the meeting, we discussed the ECIA projects over the past term and the initiatives to be undertaken across Europe the coming new term. Also, the national organizations shared their local reports.

This time the General Assembly celebrated the elections of the new presidency. Martin Thörnblom was voted as a new president and Dominic Haag-Walthert was elected as a new treasurer. A new board member was proposed and Sophie Green joined the ECIA team. Now the ECIA board consists of 7 members.

The Spanish national organization CGDI organized a very interesting and productive weekend for their guests - a guided visit to Guggenheim Museum, an informal dinner in a restaurant located in an old salt warehouse, a guided tour and a pintxos lunch in the old quarter of Bilbao. The General Assembly finished with an amazing party at Espacio Open Bilbao, where we honored the work of Anja Dirks and Marianne Daepp who finished their terms.

We hope to gather together again in our next General Assembly 2020!
