ECIA at Ambiente 2026 | Summary

ECIA was at Ambiente (Frankfurt) 2026. Our board members organized an all-day board meeting on February 8 to advance the main topics for the upcoming months of ECIA. It was really productive, and in fact, we have too many ideas to share with all of you soon.

On February 9, we planned a full day of lectures and discussions at the fair, under the name 'ECIA Interior Architects Day'. It was an incredible event full of creativity and inspiring talks.

We had the honor of having our colleagues Nadia Tolstoy (from Tengbom Stockholm), Nòra Demeter (from Demeter Design Studio), and Mauro Brigham (from Ncbham / Materiatek) as speakers. They held a roundtable on how designers balance global expectations with local identity, sustainability, and human experience.

Nadia Tolstoy used project examples to show how solid concepts are developed through analysis, workshops, and tools.

Nòra Demeter explained how hospitality reflects the international face of the city of Budapest.

Mauro Brigham reflected on design as a constantly changing field, shaped by experiments, risks, and the lessons they leave behind.

We had also the oportunity of enjoy a panel discussion about "emotional design in hospitality espaces" and explore how hospitality environments influence feelings, behaviour, and memory. Our board members May Fawzy (from MF Design Studio), Davina Preca (from Lime Interior Design Studio) and René Pier (from SCHIENBEIN+PIER) led this talk, moderated by Nadia Tolstoy.

To conclude our day, Mr. President Thomas Seifert explained the key aspects of interior architecture as the discipline that shapes the spaces where everyday life takes place.
