FYRA awarded as 2020 design agency

Instead of nominating an interior architect this year, SIO has, for the first time, awarded an Interior Architecture Agency of the Year, and it is the design agency FYRA (www.fyra.fi). FYRA, established in 2010, has quickly become one of the leading interior architecture agencies in Finland. The firm has claimed its place as a responsible and proactive player in our industry. The open and positive spirit of its work community is evident also in the agency's completed projects. The agency's design philosophy is based on strong cooperation both with the design team and clients.

2020 is also the tenth anniversary for FYRA. The original four-member team has grown into one of the leading agencies in the design of public spaces. At the moment, FYRA operates with an 18-employee-strong team. The company's core skills include the design of working environments, hotel and restaurant spaces as well as different concepts and cross-sectional projects. Of the agency's various design projects, the jury highlights Scandic Helsinki Aviacongress hotel, which is an interesting execution of a new hotel concept. Fyra's other designs include BoxbyPosti in the centre of Helsinki, Original Sokos Hotel Tripla in Pasila, the technology company Solita's national office concept as well as Wärtsilä campus in Salmisaari in Helsinki.

This year, the decision based on the suggestions and applications was made by the interior architects (SIO) Paula Salonen, Aino Brandt and Lars Räihä, the architect (SAFA) Miia Perkkiö and the director of Design Museum Jukka Savolainen. SIO's secretary general Minna Borg acted as the secretary of the board.
